Game of Thrones is far from a Disney movie – for one, everyone is constantly dying and it’s difficult to piece together any semblance of a happy ending.
Still, the fantastical elements of the show have captured the world’s attention just like many Disney movies from our childhoods. The artists behind Combo Estudio decided to create an alternate setting for the popular show, now in its eighth season.
Fernando Mendonça and Anderson Mahanski transported the characters we love from GOT into the world of Disney studios – and it’ll give you all the feels.
The talented duo have intertwined these two worlds so well that now we are all waiting for an actual GOT-Disney collaboration.
1. White Walker
The real winter arrived while the cast and crew were filming season seven in Iceland, where temperatures dropped down below -20 degrees, now that’s a cold day at work!
2. Arya Stark and the Hound
On Jimmy Kimmel, Emilia Clarke revealed that while filming the scene in Season 1 where her character, Daenerys Targaryen, ate a stallion heart, she became so covered in fake sticky blood that she stuck to the toilet seat during a bathroom break.
Furthermore, that fake heart was “disgusting” to eat. While she was told it would taste like a gummy bear, it tasted like nothing of the sort. She said the best way to describe it is a congealed jam.
“On the outtakes, there will be me heaving into a bucket. It’s such a reflex, when you taste something that’s just so revolting. You kind of instantly just want to get rid of it. It’s safe to say that I didn’t eat lunch that day.”
3. Jon Snow
Iwan Rheon is the character behind villain Ramsay Snow Bolton, but he was almost cast as Jon Snow.
“I auditioned for the pilot of ‘Game of Thrones’ and was down to the last two for Jon Snow,” he told the Telegraph.
When Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) originally met her on-screen husband Jason Momoa, he yelled “WIFEY!”, before running across the hall and tackling her to the ground. How romantic.
5. Cersei Lannister
6. Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth
7. “My Little Birds Have Told Me…” Lord Varys
8. Bran and Hodor
“Actually, I made a cameo in the original pilot, which was filmed in Morocco. I was a Pentoshi nobleman and one of the guests at Dany’s wedding to Khal Drogo. However, subsequently we recast the part of Dany. So, the entire Morocco wedding sequence was cut, and my brilliant cameo was left on the cutting room floor.” – George R.R. Martin
9. Tyrion Lannister
According to skilled mathematicians, Tyrion Lannister is the most vital character in the entire series. After scouring the book series “A Song of Ice and Fire”, they published their findings in a paper in MAA’s Math Horizons.
Their analyzations show that Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage, is the most interconnected character because he has interacted with the most characters. He has also appeared in the most episodes.
“Our analysis suggests that he is the true protagonist of the book,” they wrote.
10. Oberyn and The Mountain
Want to know something Disney movies and Game of Thrones have in common? They both make mistakes!
Even with as much time and editing that goes into Disney movies, producers still make the occasional mistake and the Internet goes crazy for these blunders.
Game of Thrones isn’t immune from these same mistakes. Anyone notice that coffee cup a couple episodes ago?
11. “The Night is Dark and Full of Terrors…” Melisandre
Technically, Khaleesi is a title and not a name. It’s the Dothraki word for queen. Regardless, fans everywhere are adopting it as a name for their baby girls.
The Social Security Administration reported that in 2014, Khaleesi was the 755th most popular baby name for girls. As of 2013, it was the 1,021st most popular name – so it’s getting more popular with time.
12. “Look I’ll show you… How I burn this world…” Daenerys and Jon snow flying like Jasmine and Aladdin!
