Geert Weggen is an award winning Dutch/Swedish photographer, who specializes in photographing Red squirrels and other animals.
About Six years ago, Weggen found a fox on his front porch.
He immediately rushed back inside to get some meat for the creature.
The animal started coming back every day for more food.
Geert Weggen took this opportunity to start taking pictures and begin his career as an animal photographer
As Weggen says himself:
“By the end of a second week, the fox would come to the balcony where it interacted with various props I used for photography.
Soon before late, a Russian bird paid me a visit and continued on doing so daily.
Suddenly, my balcony had become a studio filled with nature props, cameras, mirrors, etc.
The bird followed me, and I followed the bird with my camera, as it searched for hidden food in scenes that I had created.
Some photos of this encounter were awarded and published.
Eventually, red squirrels appeared, and they still come daily to my outside studio. Little did I know back then that it would become my living.
Since last year I have been organizing Squirrel workshops at home.
These workshops are held to occur two times a year when the young squirrels arrive.
A maximum of 3 participants can join this 5-day workshop.”

While Weggens obsession with red squirrels may seem strange on the outside..
It sure has given views a wondrous glimpse into a world we know very little about.
While we think we know the lives of these squirrels,
Weggen is able to capture them in ways we’ve only seen before in Disney movies.
His photography is truly magical

While most of us are quite used to the sight of squirrels,
The ways in which weggen is able to capture them, makes these little creatures feel more human like.
Never thought i’d be more in love with squirrels than I am right now.
They are just all so adorable!
Watching them play with these tiny human like objects and working together brings a smile to my face.
How can you not fall in love with these little ones!
Just look at them.
So cute!

Here’s the time that weggen reversed roles and let the squirrel take a picture of him.

Time for a snow cone!

Move out the way, im in a rush!
I feel like this photo below would make an excellent kung fu movie poster.

Don’t forget to take some time out of your day to smell the flowers
It’s good for you.

Don’t mind me, just taking shelter under this mushroom like the cute-y i am.

So majestic.
So agile.

I swear all these photos come from a wondrous fantasy world.
That I wish i lived in.

Shake it off!

Reach for new heights!
Always!

One for you, and one for me.

And in case you forgot.
Always stop to smell the flowers.

Or mushrooms..

Watch out!
It’s a flying witch squirrel!
Hide your nuts!

When you love flowers so much, but don’t have enough arms to hold them all.

Sometimes you just gotta use your feet.

To know the sunflower, a squirrel must become the sunflower!

Someone looks surprised their photo was taken..

So magestic..
So beautiful.

Can I play you the song of my people?
