This Is Salvador Dolly, The Shelter Doggy With A Handlebar Mustache

All baby animals are adorable, but every once in a while one of them is born with some perfectly shaped marking that makes them that much cuter – like the Dalmatian puppy born with a heart shaped nose, or this pupster born with a handlebar mustache!

Meet Salvador Dolly, an adorable puppy who was born looking just like the famous Spanish painter Salvador Dali!

Salvador Dali was well-known for his unique artwork, as well as his eccentric behaviors. Yet, perhaps one of his most defining features was his mustache.

So, when this little puppy was born into the world sporting a black marking that perfectly resembles a mustache, it was only natural that she be called Salvador Dolly.

Salvador Dolly was born at a shelter in Dallas with a very distinct feature that’s taking the Internet by storm.

“It’s puppy season in Dallas right now and there are always multiple moms with litters at the shelter,” Allison Seelig from Hearts & Bones Rescue told Bored Panda in an interview.

“Dallas Animal Services, a shelter with the 3rd highest number of animal intakes in the entire country, […] took in mama and her 11 babies as strays and cared for them for 2 weeks, but puppies are at a very high risk of getting sick in the shelter environment, so we knew we had to get them out,” she explained.

Within one week, the whole family of adorable pups was moved from the shelter into foster care. This was made possible by the working relationship between Dallas Animal Services and Hearts & Bones Rescue.

The family is enjoying the good life – full of cuddles and relaxing until the puppies are old enough to be weaned and placed in the perfect homes.

“The whole family is now relaxing in a comfy and safe home and getting medical care and monitoring until the puppies are old enough to be weaned,” said Allison.

The puppies are around six weeks old right now, so they are still nursing and very dependent on their mama. While all 12 dogs are still living under the same roof, the plan is to relocate them to NYC in late August. At which point, they will all go off to different foster homes to await their forever families.

All of the puppies are in great health, full of energy and zest for life. Their mother (pictured below) is doing wonderfully as well.

“The puppies are all so unique looking and adorable, and while we are overwhelmed with applications for Dolly right now, her siblings are still looking for homes in the NYC area! We also need foster homes in NYC ready to take them in when they arrive,” said Allison.

Even if you’re not in a place to adopt a dog or foster one, you can still help this adorable little family.

“Caring for a family of 12 is very costly, so donations would be a huge help to us right now,” Allison shared.

Donations are greatly appreciated to help cover medical costs for Salvador and her fam, as well as numerous other dogs under their care. You can donate through their site here.

“Once our dogs leave the shelter, we send them to foster homes in the Dallas area for a couple of weeks to ensure they’re healthy, and then transport them to NYC, where the number of people wanting to adopt dogs is incredibly high!”
