7 Things a Strong Woman Won’t Tolerate in a Relationship

If you’ve never been in a relationship with a strong woman before, you may be in for a bit of a surprise.

Many of the old ‘tricks’ that you used on previous partners, or at the bar on Friday nights won’t work with her.

A truly strong woman, who doesn’t need a partner to feel complete, can intimidate some people, but if you’re lucky enough to meet a woman like this, you shouldn’t feel overwhelmed with insecurity.

Today, we’re bringing you some tips on things a strong woman won’t tolerate in a relationship.

1. Lies

This seems like an obvious one for any relationship, but a truly strong woman won’t tolerate a partner who lies and deceives them.

This can be anything from concealing an affair to a more innocuous white lie about how many drinks you’ve had or where you’ve been after work.

You should never feel like you have to lie to your partner about anything, and if your strong female partner catches you doing this, you’ll probably regret it.

The best thing you can do in that situation is come clean, tell her why you felt like you had to lie, and apologize fully for your mistake.

2. Disrespect

A strong woman is someone who does not tolerate disrespect in any form- even when it’s not directed her way.

One of the best ways that you can show your strong female partner that you’re a match for her strength is to show respect to those around you.

This means acknowledging service that you receive at restaurants or stores, being courteous to strangers in public, and when you’re at home, bringing up criticism in a respectful manner when the situation calls for honesty.

Even in tense situations, disrespect is never the answer.

3. Excuses

Another way that strong women show their strength is by taking ownership of any situation, regardless of the circumstances.

They know that they are responsible for their own behavior, whatever the consequences.

People who are continually making excuses for their behavior- “he cut me off, I had to give him the finger!”- are simply avoiding taking responsibility for their actions.

Strong women can see through excuses.

If you find that you’re making excuses on a regular basis, it will soon start impacting your relationship with your partner.

4. Insecurity

Insecurity manifests in many different ways.

Jealousy is a common symptom of someone who is incredibly insecure, and it can have a huge impact on a relationship if it’s not controlled.

Strong women have little tolerance for insecurity, and all the other negative symptoms that come along with low self-esteem, like pettiness, unkindness, and an unwillingness to give them the benefit of the doubt.

If you’re lucky enough to be in a relationship with a strong woman, the best thing you can do is put your trust in their moral compass, and leave your insecurity at the door.

5. Flakiness

One trait of great partners that often goes unremarked upon is reliability.

Someone who is reliable, and has proven themselves worthy of trust, is a rare commodity these days, when many people have resorted to making trite excuses like “oh, I just can’t adult today” when they arrive late for a date, or an appointment.

Flakiness and disorganization project the message that you value your time more than anyone else’s, which is not a message that you want to be sending, especially if you’re wasting the time of someone you love.

6. Being Unsupportive

Strong women trust enough in their own abilities, and feel secure enough to joyfully celebrate the accomplishments of others.

If you’re dating a strong woman, and aren’t able to support and celebrate her achievements, you need to rethink your priorities.

Being too busy with your own career isn’t an excuse.

You need to be continually supporting the strong lady in your life- not because you think she needs the support, but because you feel proud of her hard work and admire her achievements.

7. Toxic Masculinity

Toxic masculinity happens when men feel the need to ‘perform’ their sexuality at every turn.

Instead of resting comfortably in their identity as a man, they need to continually be reassured of their masculinity, through their actions and through the comments of others.

This leads to men acting ‘macho’ and ‘manly’ in ways that diminish others.

Real men don’t need to continually be reassured of their identity- their strong, self-assured self is the perfect match for the strong lady in their life.
