Actor Jason Momoa revealed a softer side to his muscle-man persona in his latest photoshoot for Esquire magazine.
First of all, he was pictured on the cover holding a cat.
Side note: the cat doesn’t belong to him. He is an animal fanatic though, with two beautiful dogs who are half malamute, half wolf. He also has a pet donkey… yes, a donkey, you read that right.
In the Esquire interview, Momoa described himself as a puppy, not an old soul.
“I’m not, like, an old soul,” Momoa said. “I’m a young puppy.”
About that scar near his left eyebrow, he revealed it originated after someone hit him with a glass at a bar in Hollywood back in 2008.
“It was crazy. A guy smashed a pint glass in my face. I got a little over 140 stitches in my face . . . [hair] just doesn’t grow there anymore,” he said in a previous interview.
He’s the father of two kids with wife Lisa Bonet. His daughter, Lola, is 12 and his son, Nakoa-Wolf, is 10.

He started dating Lisa in 2005 and the pair were wed in 2007.
The actor has admitted that his children are the reason he got his life together.
“I really can’t tell you what the hell I was doing before I had kids,” he said. “Just f**king off. Wasting time. I think I was pretty reckless and definitely a bit out of control. Now I’m more focused. I probably love myself more and take care of myself more because I want to stick around,” he told Men’s Health in 2017.

The 40-year-old actor played Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe, starting with the 2016 superhero film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and in the 2017 ensemble Justice League, along with his 2018 solo film Aquaman.
He played Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, Conan the Barbarian in the 2011 film by the same name, and Joe Braven in the film Braven.
What many people don’t know is that he starred on Baywatch: Hawaii between 1999 and 2001. At the same time, he was working on his modeling career.
It’s rumored that he was discovered by international designer Takeo Kobayashi in 1998 and began his modeling career shortly after that.
Momoa was born in Hawaii but raised in Iowa by his single mom. He and his mother are still incredibly close, and he brings her to a lot of red carpet events.
In college, he majored in Marine Biology and spent some time studying in the Florida Keys. Before becoming a model/actor he had dreams of becoming a marine biologist, lifeguard and surfer.
During his audition for Game of Thrones, Momoa did something quite unusual – he broke into a Haka, an ancestral war cry of the Maori people of New Zealand. His unique performance helped him score the role.
As for the triangle-patterned tattoo on his forearm, Jason has described it as a representation of shark teeth so that when he’s in the water they just might recognize him as one of their own.
