Spoiler alerts! You’ve been warned.
Sunday (and basically all of last weekend) was filled with anticipation and excitement as we geared up to watch the season 8 premiere of Game of Thrones.
While the episode ended up being shorter than anyone wanted (couldn’t they make it two hours instead of under one hour?!), it was nonetheless filled with all kinds of ‘we can’t get enough’ moments.
There was all kinds of shade tossed between Danaerys and Sansa, Bran just couldn’t stop staring the whole darn episode… and then we found out why, and the Northerners saw their first black people.
Of course, the Internet has been buzzing with hilarious Game of Thrones memes ever since the episode went live. Here are some of our favorite Twitter posts…
First and foremost, the episode was way too short…
Jon and Dany took the dragons out for a ride
Finally, Jon rode the dragon named after his father, just as we saw in the season preview clip.
The two beauties tried to share a special moment, but things quickly turned awkward for Jon
The Northerners saw their first black people
“That’s your aunt…”
The Night King left a sweet piece of artwork behind, quite literally.
Serious shade tossed between Danaerys and Sansa
Heat was thrown between Euron and Cersei too
Then Samwell was delivered some cold-hearted tea that no one could stomach
The truth hurts
Then there was Bran and his non-stop staring the entire episode
When we found out why Bran was staring and #mindblown
When Samwell told Jon Snow his true identity… “You callin my father a liar?”
In S8 episode one, Jon learned that he is the trueborn son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, not the bastard of Ned Stark as he was raised to believe.
That means Jon is related to Daenerys (gasps), and he is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. There goes that budding romance… and they would have made such a cute couple!
But would she?
“Oh My God He Did It!”
Basically, we just can’t wait to see what happens next week, and it better be at least a full hour this time.
After all, this whole thing is building up to the war against the dead and the living, a battle that is supposed to put the Battle of the Bastards to shame.
